Torquay Harbour to Meadfoot

Start with the harbour and follow the coast towards Meadfoot for a flexible out-and-back. The harbour section is straightforward, while slopes increase as the route leaves the centre.

Busy roads and promenades make a short lead the sensible choice through town.Plan a Torquay day↗

Babbacombe Downs and beach

The Downs provide an easy clifftop stroll with broad sea views. Routes down towards the beach or coast path become much steeper and may include long flights of steps.

The level Downs are the most buggy-friendly part of this outing.Check beach access↗

Goodrington and Roundham Head

Combine Youngs Park, Goodrington North and the paths around Roundham Head for a varied Paignton walk. The park and promenade are easier than the stepped headland sections.

Goodrington North is the year-round dog section; read the beach signs carefully.Plan a Paignton day↗

Berry Head and Sharkham Point

Open coast, historic fortifications and nature-reserve views make this the Bay’s most dramatic option. Expect exposed terrain, cliff edges and wildlife-sensitive areas.

Good to know

Common questions.

Which Torbay dog walk is easiest?+

Babbacombe Downs and the level sections of Torquay or Paignton promenade are the simplest options. Natural coast paths are steeper and less suitable for wheels.

Where should dogs stay on leads?+

Use a lead around livestock, wildlife, roads, busy promenades and cliff edges, and follow every local sign. Berry Head in particular needs careful control.

Are the walks suitable after heavy rain?+

Promenades remain the most predictable. Woodland and coast paths can become muddy, slippery or exposed, so adjust the route to the weather and your dog’s ability.

Are these professional access audits?+

No. The blind and partially sighted notes are practical planning information, not a professional sight-loss audit or a guarantee that a route is suitable. Where an official detailed access guide is available, the walk card links to it.
